San Jose, CA – Author Mary Andrade will be presenting an 82 photo exhibit titled “Day of the Dead, A Passion for Life” with never seen before photographs taken during her travels through different indigenous communities of Mexico.
The author captures through her images how the Mexican people celebrate this tradition, explicitly documenting the differences and similarities of how the different indigenous communities honor the lives and memories of their ancestors during the celebration of Day of the Dead.
This exhibit will provide a forum where the audience will be able to interact with Mrs. Andrade and share their experiences on this celebration so unique in its form that it was named a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2003.
This year, Mrs. Andrade has also been invited by the Tourism Board of Mexico to present the “Vigil of of the Little Angels photo exhibit at the “Festival of Life and Death” in Xcaret, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
The Vigil of the Little Angels is a tradition that takes place in the island of Janitzio and Pacanda, Michoacan where the children go to the cemetery to honor their little brothers and sisters that have passed away. She was also invited by the Mexican Institute of Atlanta, Georgia, to present a collection of her photographs.
